The story
Sónar by Day is a festival of ideas; Sónar by Night is a festival of enormous rooms and enormous sound. Barcelona in June makes both feel effortless.
Sónar is a 3-day electronica, techno, experimental festival at Barcelona, Spain. The June 2027 edition runs 18–20 Jun 2027. It draws around 120,000 people.
Announced so far: Amelie Lens, Floating Points, Jamie xx and Peggy Gou. Expect stages split between Electronica, Techno and Experimental. The line-up is spread across the 3 festival days, so a full-weekend ticket is the only way to catch every name.
With room for about 120,000 people, Sónar is one of the largest events in our index: expect long entry queues, several main-stage sets running at once and a site you cannot cross in five minutes. Barcelona is the base for the trip: it is where the affordable beds, the late trains and the after-parties are, and where prices climb fastest as the dates approach.
Sónar keeps the same calendar slot each year: June 2027 for this edition, opening on a Friday and closing on a Sunday. It is a high-summer date, which is peak season for both travel and accommodation across the region. That slot matters for the budget — flights and rooms in Barcelona are priced for the festival weekend, not the week around it, so shifting your arrival by a day often saves more than any ticket tier does.

- 1Book the ticket first: tiers at Sónar are sold in waves and the cheapest wave is gone long before the line-up is complete.
- 2Then price the travel from Paris — Cinderella compares train, bus, car and flight for the same dates, and the cheapest option is not always the obvious one.
- 3Reserve 4 nights rather than 3: the last night of a festival almost always ends after the last train home.
- 4If you fly into BCN, check the transfer time to Barcelona before booking the earliest departure — the airport bus is usually the cheapest leg of the whole trip.
- 5Follow Sónar on Cinderella to be emailed when a ticket price drops or a new tier opens.

Travel tips from Paris
- Fly into BCN, the closest airport to the site.
- Rail arrivals come through Barcelona Sants; shuttles usually run from there.
- Book a bed in Barcelona early — rooms around a festival sell out before the last ticket tier does.
