The story

MUTEK Japan is an annual festival focused on audiovisual performances and electronic music, taking place in Tokyo at MoN Takanawa: The Museum of Narratives. In its 11th year, the festival will occur from November 20th to 23rd, coinciding with the Japanese harvest festival Niiname-sai. The event will feature a combination of performances and conference programming, including talks and workshops.

MUTEK Japan is a 3-day electronic, experimental festival at Tokyo venue in Tokyo, Japan. The November 2026 edition runs 15–17 Nov 2026.

Announced so far: Max Cooper, Hania Rani, mouse on the keys, Patrick Wilson and Ryoichi Kurokawa. Expect stages split between Electronic and Experimental. The line-up is spread across the 3 festival days, so a full-weekend ticket is the only way to catch every name.

Everything happens at Tokyo venue, in Tokyo. Tokyo · 0 km · about 0 min is the organiser's practical nearby base for accommodation and transfers to the festival site.

MUTEK Japan keeps the same calendar slot each year: November 2026 for this edition, opening on a Sunday and closing on a Tuesday. It falls in autumn, after the summer circuit closes, when flights and rooms come back down in price. That slot matters for the budget — flights and rooms in Tokyo are priced for the festival weekend, not the week around it, so shifting your arrival by a day often saves more than any ticket tier does.

Total door to door

Door to door from Paris, a trip to MUTEK Japan works out at roughly €1,770 per person on the cheapest combination we track — a higher-budget weekend, mostly because of the travel leg.

The ticket is only 1% of that: the rest is getting there and sleeping somewhere, which is exactly the part most ticket sites leave out.

Cheapest travel we price is air · 16h 59m each way, at €1,174 return.

Planning the trip, step by step

  1. 1Book the ticket first: tiers at MUTEK Japan are sold in waves and the cheapest wave is gone long before the line-up is complete.
  2. 2Then price the travel from Paris — Cinderella compares train, bus, car and flight for the same dates, and the cheapest option is not always the obvious one.
  3. 3Reserve 4 nights rather than 3: the last night of a festival almost always ends after the last train home.
  4. 4Follow MUTEK Japan on Cinderella to be emailed when a ticket price drops or a new tier opens.
