The story
Hardstyle's spiritual home. The Endshow on Sunday night — fire, fireworks and 60,000 people in unison — is one of dance music's great spectacles.
Defqon.1 is a 3-day hardstyle, hardcore festival at Biddinghuizen, Netherlands. The June 2027 edition runs 26–28 Jun 2027. It draws around 65,000 people.
Announced so far: Da Tweekaz, Headhunterz and Sub Zero Project. Expect stages split between Hardstyle and Hardcore. The line-up is spread across the 3 festival days, so a full-weekend ticket is the only way to catch every name.
At around 65,000 attendees it sits in the mid-to-large bracket — big stages and big production, but still walkable end to end. Biddinghuizen is the base for the trip: it is where the affordable beds, the late trains and the after-parties are, and where prices climb fastest as the dates approach.
Defqon.1 keeps the same calendar slot each year: June 2027 for this edition, opening on a Saturday and closing on a Monday. It is a high-summer date, which is peak season for both travel and accommodation across the region. That slot matters for the budget — flights and rooms in Biddinghuizen are priced for the festival weekend, not the week around it, so shifting your arrival by a day often saves more than any ticket tier does.

- 1Book the ticket first: tiers at Defqon.1 are sold in waves and the cheapest wave is gone long before the line-up is complete.
- 2Then price the travel from Paris — Cinderella compares train, bus, car and flight for the same dates, and the cheapest option is not always the obvious one.
- 3Reserve 4 nights rather than 3: the last night of a festival almost always ends after the last train home.
- 4If you fly into AMS, check the transfer time to Biddinghuizen before booking the earliest departure — the airport bus is usually the cheapest leg of the whole trip.
- 5Follow Defqon.1 on Cinderella to be emailed when a ticket price drops or a new tier opens.

Travel tips from Paris

- Rail arrivals come through Lelystad Centrum; shuttles usually run from there.
- Book a bed in Biddinghuizen early — rooms around a festival sell out before the last ticket tier does.
